Adventure Palooza (Sept 30, 2017) WILL BE AN EVENT LIKE NO OTHER! A quick summary is on the notecard below, and LOTS of details below that. If you need more check out the FAQ. Details

There will be GPS tracks, an app for your phone, and a password released to paid participants prior to the event. There will be four starting points throughout Missouri (North, East, South, & West depending on where you are coming from) to converge on a beautiful bit of farm property in Mexico, Missouri (camping under the big bright stars of rural missouri anyone?). The ride will take 5 to 9 hours to complete depending on rider’s determination and/or skill. The tracks will be suitable for ’big bikes’ and have several bonus alternate detours off the main track for more adventurous riders. You will want to have your mobile app downloaded and ready on a smartphone (if participating as a team, only one needed per team) and your GPS.

Participants will navigate from their starting point, while transmitting GPS checkpoints & photos into our smart-phone APP that will feed all the information back to our base camp. There will be points earned for each waypoint completed and/or task completed with bonus points given for creativity. You can fall in at any point on the track you wish, it’s up to you how many points you want to get! For example if you are riding from the North you can start at Moulton, Iowa... or get in at Kirksville, Missouri... it’s all good!

At 7am the free app that we will be using will activate and tell you where the next point is (you can sign into the app anytime you like, but it will not activate until 7AM). Some waypoints require participants to enter a photo, others require GPS confirmation or input a text answer. All this information is easily logged using the APP and automatically updates to the event coordinator. At some point, you will be asked to do something fun or funny, for example a photo that will make even the grumpiest of them smile...

Upon arrival at the final destination, you will be greeted with plenty of green space, food (pulled pork-BBQ, side & drink) and the camping site, but that is not all... (when the tracks are released, we suggest you plan your starting point and distance/shortcuts to arrive between 5 and 6:30pm). We will have LIVE BANDS, and the live music will go from approximately 6:30 until 10. We want you to share your camaraderie with other riders, relax for the evening, enjoy the digital slide show (consisting of a digital feed from all the photos entered in the APP throughout the day), and review “winners and losers” of this rally based on the checkpoint total points. Remember you can either COMPETE, OR COMPLETE just for fun (this is not a race, we want everyone to have a good time and be safe).

There will be recognitions and accolades to teams and individuals that collect the most points, first place loser, best photos, and other unpredictable categories. During the concert, we will be showing photos from the day’s action on a big screen for everyone to enjoy. Download the free app GOOSECHASE (available on Google play and the apple store). After registering, approximately 1 week before the event you will receive an email with your PASSWORD to access the designated photo & waypoint challenges, and a link to download the complete GPS tracks to follow on your journey to base camp in Mexico. Dale (Boots) and John (JW) - owner’s of Adventure Riders LLC and -the evil masterminds behind this undertaking- have painstakingly designated tracks and waypoints that will take you through hilly roads, scenic points of visual/historical interest, low-water crossings, fun gravel roads, twisties, etc. If you like backroads midwest, this should be great !

Type & Level of riding:

Gravel roads, backtop, low-water crossings, some concrete crossings, and some alternate-routes off the main track for primitive road and creek crossings. Sticking to the main track should be no problem for the average rider and big bikes. The alternate tracks will be accessible for more experienced riders. The challenge of this ride is not primarily technical riding, but rather navigating, catching the waypoints using the APP, and your journey across the state!

The starting point for this year’s Adventure Palooza 2017 will be as follows: (updated 5-17-17)
North - Near Moulton, IA
East - Washington, MO (or Wentzville, MO. Both will be near the track start)
South - Thayer, MO
West - Lee Summit at the James A Reed Wildlife area (Suburb of Kansas City)
WHEN THE TRACKS ARE RELEASED TO YOU, YOU DONT HAVE TO START AT THE END POINT- HOW MANY TOTAL MILES AND CHECKPOINTS YOU WANT TO COVER IS UP TO YOU.
THERE WILL ALSO BE 'SHORTCUTS' MARKED YOU CAN TAKE IF YOU ARE COMING FROM FAR OUT AND NEED TO REDUCE THE MILEAGE.
STUDY YOUR TRACK WHEN IT COMES OUT, EXPECT 200 - 250 MILES (ALTHOUGH IF YOU ARE STARTING AT THE END POINT AND TOOK NO SHORT CUTS IT COULD BE LONGER, THAT WILL BE OBVIOUS TO NAVIGATE AND DECIDE, AND UP TO YOU!!

IMPORTANT NOTE: You could start anywhere along these tracks, but to gain MAXIMUM POINTS you would want to start at or near the DESIGNATED starting points. ANOTHER NOTE: YOU COULD RIDE AND FOLLOW THE TRACK TO JOIN US AT THE BASECAMP IN MEXICO FOR FUN, MUSIC, FOOD & FRIENDSHIP You dont HAVE to use the APP, however we hope you will give it a try because its lots of fun and will allow everyone to enjoy the collective digital slide show at the end!
